Dr. Shmerling
(she/hers)

We all get stuck in cycles of behavior that do not serve us and leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves and others. I aim to help you improve your relationships, starting with the most important relationship of all – your relationship with yourself. My integrative approach to therapy is rooted in a variety of theoretical models including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy as well as Family Systems and Attachment theories. I engage clients with openness and humility while honoring diversity in all its forms by helping clients embrace their unique strengths and values. I am committed to helping you break your cycle, empower you to take risks, and lead you to a place of self-compassion.

I specialize in working with adolescents, emerging adults and adult populations. I enjoy working with issues of gender and sexuality, interpersonal and relationship concerns, family of origin issues, anxiety, depression, and eating disorders through individual, group, and couple’s therapy. Additionally, my doctoral paper was a qualitative research study seeking to define emotional infidelity and the impact of technology. Therefore, emotional infidelity in the context of relationships is a special interest of mine.
